Instant Pot® Split Pea Soup with Ham
Ingredients
- 2tablespoons butter
- 2cups chopped yellow onions
- 1/4teaspoon salt
- 1/4teaspoon pepper
- 3cups diced ham (from 16-oz bone-in ham steak)
- 1 1/2cups chopped carrots
- 1/2cup chopped celery
- 4cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1carton (32 oz) Progresso™ reduced sodium chicken broth
- 2cups water
- 2 1/4cups dried split peas (1 lb), sorted, rinsed
Steps
1 On 6-quart Instant Pot®, select SAUTE; adjust to normal. Melt butter in insert. Add onions, salt and pepper; cook 6 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently, until softened. Select CANCEL.
2 Stir in ham, carrots, celery and garlic. Stir in broth and water, then stir in peas.
3 Secure lid; set pressure valve to SEALING. Select MANUAL; cook on high pressure 15 minutes. Select CANCEL. Keep pressure valve in SEALING position to release pressure naturally. Stir; let stand 10 minutes.
